Its quickly coming to that time of the year where the weather starts warming up and spawning season is on the way that means lake closures can happen fast.
ALL SPAWNING NEWS,UPDATES & CLOSURES (for spawning only) will be updated on this page and on our Facebook page as soon as possible.
We know it's frustrating—especially if you've booked time off—but spawning often kicks off with little to no warning.
Please check here or Facebook before you travel.
🚫 Once a lake is closed for spawning 🚫
🚫 Access cards will stop working Gate codes/padlocks may be changed
🚫 Bailiffs will ask everyone to reel in, pack up and leave the premises
🚫 If spawning starts on a lake you are fishing PLEASE reel in and stop fishing. Dont wait to be asked!

HORSESHOE LAKE:
Current status: UPDATE 27/06/2026 - Horseshoe Lake will reopen on Saturday 27th June from 9am.
Access Information: The shop will be open for day ticket arrivals from 9am–12 midday Permit holders have access as usual from 9am
Important Fish Care Reminder (Hot Weather): Please take extra care when handling fish in these high temperatures: - Keep unhooking mats in the shade - Use fresh lake water only (not water left standing in buckets) - Keep fish out of the water for the shortest time possible It’s also worth noting the lake is quite weedy at the moment; If you need to clear a spot, a casting lead is fine but please no garden rakes on ropes, having been out on the boat there are lots of fish in the weed the last thing they need is a rake landing on their heads.
🚫 Update – 23/06/2026 Due to continued signs of spawning activity in certain areas of the lake, along with the high temperatures forecast over the next few days, the lake will remain closed for now. We will review the situation again on Friday and provide a further update then.
UPDATE 15/06/2026 - WHOLE LAKE CLOSED DUE TO SPAWNING
UPDATE 14/06/2026 Horseshoe swim closures. Summer Bay (swims 7 round to 55) are now closed. The fish are spawning in the Bay. Winter Bay remains open at the moment. We will update you as any developments occur. Thank you. UPDATE 01/06/2026: Horseshoe Lake will reopen 9am Tuesday 2/6/2026. Please note that areas or the lake may reclose if further spawning starts.
🚫Update 28/05/2026: CLOSED The recent spawning activity was short (no comment). There’s been no further signs for a few days now, so we’ll see how things play out over the next few days and post another update early next week (hopefully)
