Pike and Predator Masterclass 2006

Despite a really cold start on Saturday, requiring heroic ice-breaking by David Mannall and Malcolm Tuckwell, fish were caught late afternoon and overnight. The rain on Saturday night completely cleared the lake of ice and many fish were caught during the day on Sunday.

There were many personal bests and notable captures with the most outstanding being Mike Neate's 22lb 13 fish caught on a fly. In fact Mike had three on the fly over the weekend.

Others wanted to try the technique which Mike was happy to share. Pike fly-fishing is a growing aspect of the sport being pioneered in this country by Mick and Mike.

The event saw a full complement of enthusiastic pike anglers enjoy the fishing and tuition at Horseshoe Lake.

For the third year running we were delighted to have Mick Brown join us to host the evening tuition sessions and bank side one-to-one coaching. This year, for the first time, he was joined by one of the south-west's most successful predator anglers, Mike 'Hoss' Neate.

The weekend got under way on Friday afternoon with one or two fish caught to lures and capped off by a really enjoyable dinner and presentation by Mick and Mike.
